WOODCARVING & SCULPTURE WORKSHOPS

Tony, our sculptor, is a multimedia artist with an Honours degree in Fine Art-Sculpture at Falmouth College of Arts and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. He is a freelance artist and as well as running art and craft courses for Camborne College and St Austell College in Cornwall he has also worked over the years with learners of all abilities and ages.
Over his career Tony has also been a freelance landscape gardener. As a tutor he encourages learners to relate art to the landscape through sculptures, creatively combining art with nature.

Visual art is an important element of well-being. Creating art is often feared by people saying that they are not creative. However, creating a piece of art increases relaxation, gives a sense of enjoyment and inner calm and reduces stress. Art also provides individuals with a way to express thoughts, feelings and emotions and therefore helps us connect with others and improves quality of life.

Tony offers a variety of workshops for guests who stay here and for the local community. Woodcarving using traditional tools for adults: Approximately 2 hours. Sculpture workshops using a soft block where you can create a piece of art work to take home with you: For adults and children over 5 years Approximately 2 hours. New for 2025 will be our Outdoor Environmental Art Workshops: These will be 3 hours a day over 6 weeks. Sessions include: Woodcarving, sculpture work, sketching of the landscape, learning different medium techniques. Please contact if you wish to attend any of our workshops by emailing the site through our contacts link. Why not give it a try – you may surprise yourself!

FLORA, FAUNA AND HISTORY WALKS

A guided flora and fauna walk which takes in the history of the beautiful World Heritage Site of Luxulyan Valley. Discover the biodiversity and uniqueness of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Acorn is privileged to be situated within such an Area of Historical Value. We therefore take this opportunity to share the landscape with you through a walk that will explore the natural environment through the seasons. Learn about how an adit, integral to the mining industry 200 years ago is now a home to one of the most protected species in the UK. Admire how ancient woodlands develop, entwined with natural rock formations and how this interrelationship creates a visual paradise of ecosystems as well as a natural habitat for our biodiversity.
Acorn’s Flora and Fauna Walks are approximately one and half hours long and are suitable for adults and families with children 10 and over.
